KItty Cat Snowmobile CDI Box

Just for the sake of conversation, I was just wondering if anyone knows what year that Arctic Cat started using a CDI box in the ignition system.

Also, do you see noticeable performance improvements with a CDI versus the older mechanical point system. (and that's if the points were fresh and set correctly)
Thank You,

Kitty Cat CDI Unit

If I'm not mistaken, 1985 was the first year for the CDI equipped ignition. The CDI unit was an awesome step forward for the snowmobile.

Yes, 1985 was the first year with the CDI after Arctic Cat came out of bankruptcy. It made it easier to work on and they are very reliable, but the Spirit (points/condenser) engine had a higher rev'ing engine which helped those that raced them and bypassed the governor.
