Seat swap

Post by drisok »

I would like to swap the seat from my 79 with a newer model from the 1990's. The 79 has buttons on the side to hold it down while the 90's appear to have threaded spindles.

Beyond retrofitting the seat, are the dimensions the same?

How is the newer seat held in place at the front?

Clips hold the front of the newer seats, I think that started in 92or93?. You need the clips to hold the front of the seat, you will also need the measurments of the mounting hole locations on the tunnel to mount the clips. Some creative use of adhesive backed velcro could get you around this if measurement are not available.
