FLYWHEEL KEY

Post by dsremodel »

I have a 94 kitty cat. it was running fine, the grandaughter drove it into the barn.started it a couple weeks later, ran good but backwards. pulled the flywheel & the key was sheared, evidently just enough to bump the timing off.ordered a new key,put it back together, ran like a champ for about a hour & did it again.any ideas? this is gonna get old. thanks for any help.

Just a guess, but it sounds like the flywheel is not cranked down enough. Sometimes a washer can hang up on the shoulder from the threaded portion, this could keep the the flywheel from seating tight enough. A drop or two of blue or green loc-tite could help if this is not the case . 30-35 ft-lbs. is the torque your looking for.
