77 kitty wont run

77 kitty wont run
My 77 won't start. It is identical to the problem that kevinmacc posted about his. The other thing I tested is that with a plug in it and no carb on it I turned it over and cover the inlet with my thumb and had no suction. Are my crankseals shot or what else could be the cause? Please help my grandson is begging me to get this kitty purring!
