1978 Kitty Cat Carb Leaking Carb

Post by Asherrick »

I have a 1978 Kitty Kat I have been restoring. When I open the gas line to gain fuel to the carb, the fuel begins to flow out the air hole in the right side of the carb. When throttled, the fuel stops leaking, but when idling, the fuel continues to leak? Any suggestions would be appreciated to fix the problem.

Sounds like you need to take your carb apart and clean it and check the float level. I just bought a 97 for my daughter and when I got it the gas smelled fresh so I thought I might get lucky. Unfortunately the guy I bought it from must have just put fresh gas in the tank b/c the it did the same thing as yours when I opened the shutoff. I took the carb apart and the inside was like someone had filled it with polyurethane and let it set for years. What a mess!
