idling very high problem
I have a 1991 kitty cat. It starts good but will only idle with the choke on. If I take the choke off it idles near full throttle speed. The throttle is not open in any way. I cleaned the carb, jets looked ok. Could this be a governor issue? Is it a carb issue? Has anyone ever experienced anything similar? Thanks for any input.

I concur with snoeproe. The right side (flywheel side) crank seal leakage is a very common problem. The reason you have to choke the engine to get it to run properly is because the seal is allowing air to enter the engine and leans the engine. By choking the carb you're increasing fuel thus compensating for the increased air (leaning). The crank seal is about $5.50.
