Put wrong oil in. Problem?

Ok...I bought a 1995 Kitty Cat for my boys for xmas last minute...did not have any oil. I borrowed some from neighbor: what he uses for his small Toro snowblower. Idiot me just looked at the label today and it's 4-cycle SAE30 oil. Could I have done any serious damage (went threw about 3 tanks) by not using 2-cycle oil? I mixed it at 2.5 ounces to 1 gallon of gas.

The reason I ask is because I'm hearing a rattling...or almost a pinging sound...coming from the engine. It just started today. That's what made me take a closer look at the oil bottle label.

Thanks,
Jason

it could be smoked, maybe not. pull the recoil housing (the whole black tin piece) & theres a small air deflector that sometimes breaks loose from the spotwelds. hopefully its that simple....use the right oil.
