Is new seals needed?

I have 72 kitty with the Kaw motor.
I checked the compression on it and it only reads 70 psi.
Is it time for new seals or new rings?
The cyl. looks in real good condition and does not have a lot of time on it.
Will the seals cause that much compression loss?
I do not think they have ever been changed.
Anyone could help that would be great!

70 psi ? Do you even have rings in it. A compression test tells you how good of a seal you have between the rings and cylinder walls and rings to piston ringlands. It can also read low if you have a cylinder to head leak a hole in the piston or a stuck ring, gouged cylinder ,etc . Keep in mind a compression test is kinda relative , most gauges (unless you wanna spend some bucks) are going to read a little different from one another , other factors like how hard/fast you pull the engine over, if you have your throttle open or not and even engine temp . Check to make sure your gauge is not stuck, put a know amount of air pressure on it above what your currently reading .
