72 Kitty loss of power

Post by taker »

I have a 72 Kitty cat that was running fine and now seem to have lost its power.
My son was riding it and it just gave up. He is only 7 and weighs 5o lbs.
I have put new fuel in and a new spark plug but no change.
It idles just fine but does not seem to come up to a full rpm. The govener has beem backed out all the way and still it will not achive full rpms.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

From what I have read here, it would appear that your float is not dropping rapidly enough to allow fuel in as you are increasing the throttle. Take the bowl off, and see if there is any crud or deposits that are blocking or interfering with the fuel intake, and check the needle/seat to see if it's in working order. Check the bowl itself and ensure it has no fuel in it, which would cause it to be in an intake position continuously.

Also, from reading the site posts, you can order the seat/pin from Jonn here somewhere that may be the cause of your issue, if you are not getting enough fuel with the governor backed off.
