rebuilding a 1972 kitty cat thought it was a 77
I bought 2 Kitty cats for my kids.
The newer one ran fine so I just washed, but the older one was the problem.
I cleaned the carb (3 times)
would only run with an aerosol being sprayed in the carb.
but it wouldn't rev up when I sprayed around the recoil.
But after reading on here I thought I should check the Crank seal.
The seal was completely destroyed and the spring part of the seal had fallen in the the bearing.
Serial # 7718
This is the horribly blown seal. You can see in to the bearing.
I got the bearing off, Now I am just waiting for them to arrive.
I will post more when I get more work done.

That is funny I didn't notice that the head was on the wrong way.
I did notice the gouges in the crank where the seal runs. I am not really sure what i can do about that. you guys have any idea?
I have got new bearing for it and it only cost me $25 from the local machine shop.
Just for your reference the bearing used are
NTN 6203 17mm X2
NTN 6202 15 mm
NTN 6303 17mm
These are for a kawaski engine T5A.
Crank and reduction bearings
I also found seals online really cheap as the dealer was no help.

I did order a seal and gasket kit from Olson Brothers online but they are on back order.

For the crank you could try to hit that area with some 1500-2000 emery cloth and maybe follow it up with some fine crocus cloth or really fine lapping compound. It really depends on how gouged up it is but it cant hurt and your already this far into it. Really try to keep the abrasive away from the crank bearing area. Hope this works for you.
