Gear drive case oil type and quantity ??

Post by serge675 »

Wanted to change oil in the gear case of my sons 1991 kitty kat. the outside of the clutch housing said sae 30 and 35 cc. I drained it, only a little came out. Did conversion 35 cc amounts to 1.18 ounces. Find it hard to beleive it only holds that amount ? Can I run amsoil chaincase fluid instead of oil. Please help. :o

I run synthetic oil in mine, also there is a level bolt, I just fill the case till it comes out of the level bolt, let it settle, it top it off with another half cc for good measure.

I don't see why it would hurt to change to synthetic, not like your running down the road 100 mph. I checked the manual and it does say to use SAE # 10W-30.
