Dave,

He's right. If you're looking for a great kitty mod clutch you should look at the Max-Torque DragginSkin. The clutch is quick and easy to change configurations of engagements, torque, etc. with all the spring and weights sets that are included in the kit. You can see a picture of the complete kit and lots of details and/or place an order at http://obups/snowmobile/clutches.htm or call 1-888-999-3211.

I have a stock kitty cat with the govenor tied up.
Has anyone ever drilled the weights to get higher engagement?
The dragon one is awesome, but once I have it dialed in I wont be changing it.

I haven't heard of anyone drilling the shoes to lighten them up to increase the engagement, but theoretically that would work.

The other option, and easier, is to cut a winding or two from the spring and rebend a loop in it. This will increase the tension and thus the RPM. If you lightened the shoes too much it will decrease the shoes ability to fully engage against the drum and increase the slipage and causes excess heat build up. In fact, the DraggonSkin comes with weights to increase the force between the shoe and drum to reduce slipage.

NOTE: If you are racing be sure to check the rules. Most race groups will randomly measure stock springs to ensure they are OEM. Otherwise you can be DQ'd.
